IllustrationFriday004 – adrift, originally uploaded by Alé Mercado.

New Contribution for Illustration Friday. This week’s word was adrift. All that came to mind was Coleridge.

Awesome piece, and I mean awesome! Poor dude’s plight comes through loud and clear — very powerful stuff, very empathetic … and pathetic too!

Wow, powerful. Love the contrasts and strong lines. Is this the Rime of the Ancient Mariner?

I know exactly what he is saying – in a quiet firm voice. I was not made to row, I will not row, I have never rowed, no one can make me row. I don’t care what happens I will NOT row.

Apart from that I read the ancient mariner at school and have never forgot it. In fact it was instrumental in me not killing birds, animals or insects – except to eat – occasionally. Insects usually when riding a bike and not intentionally.

Heidi, it is based on that (no albatross, though)
Scotty, you made me laugh out loud.
KH, Justin, I might have put a little bit too much desperation there alright.

    Thanks all for visiting

Hi Ale – hope you don’t mind me dropping in, but I’m a great friend of Chichi’s and she always speaks very highly of you!

    Love this powerful, expressionistic style!

Cathy, thanks so much for visiting and commenting. As you can see Chichi tends to exaggerate things a lot… Very dramatic she is.

Man you can almost hear him breathing. He’s hot and hungry, it doesn’t look too hopeful for him. And yet, he looks so determined to survive I’d bet on him.
    Great POV and lines.
