The Three Ravens

Story shortlisted for the Observer/Comica/Jonathan Cape short Story Competition 2017

The Three Ravens is an English medieval folk song. It was first transcribed to paper in 1611 by Thomas Ravenscroft.

It is a very visual account of the aftermath of a battle where ravens are discussing which corpse to feed on.
I always had the idea of making a comic out of it. But it was this last summer (2017) talking to Alan Dunne when he encouraged me to submit something to the Observer/Comica/Jonathan Cape Short Story competition that I decided on giving it a go.
The story was shortlisted which was an immense honour. You can see the winner, runner-up and all other finalists here [Click].

It is a four page comic done digitally using Manga Studio Ex (Clip Studio) and finished it in Photoshop.
